The 22nd of April is World Earth Day, a day to celebrate our wonderful planet. Starting in America in 1970, Earth Day has raised billions to conserve and safeguard our planet, its ecosystems and all its inhabitants, from small to large, furry to scaly, in the seas, on land and in the skies. As we all know, doing our bit to protect this world we all love to explore is becoming more and more important. From the impact of global warming to reducing unnecessary landfill waste. Earth Day has achieved some incredible things from establishing the Clean Air Act to planting hundreds of millions of trees worldwide. It’s a fantastic day to bring us all together and encourage us to do more all year long.
We know if you’re reading this you’re likely to love the outdoors as much as we do and, by working together, we can all reduce our impact and do more to protect the hills and oceans. To celebrate World Earth Day, we have compiled a few ways that we can work together to reduce our impact and sustainably explore the outdoors and all it has to offer. It goes without saying that the most important thing you can do is to follow the Leave No Trace policy. Not only does this help to preserve the outdoors but it also helps conserve local ecosystems and decreases disturbances to flora and fauna. You know the drill: stick to the paths and trails, keep dogs on a lead, no campfires and no litter. It's also about leaving no trace in our water supplies; working to reduce the impact on our waters as well as our landscapes.
The 2024 theme for Earth Day is ‘Planet vs. Plastics’, influenced by the upcoming historic UN treaty on plastics. Plastic pollution is a major threat to our planet: single-use plastics and microplastics are everywhere, taking hundreds of years to break down. Here at Grangers, we’re determined to do our bit to reduce plastic waste as much as we can. Late last year, we moved our already 100% recycled bottles to Prevented Ocean Plastic, meaning that our post-consumer recycled bottles are now created from plastic that is collected before it reaches the ocean. We ensure that our formulations are certified as readily biodegradable so that they leave no trace within our waters and we also offer refill stations, refill pouches and concentrated washes, doubling the life of your Grangers bottles. So, this World Earth Day, why not avoid using single-use plastics and opt for reusable alternatives, such as metal water bottles or shopping bags for life? To learn more about the threat of plastics and how it can be combatted, check out our World Refill Day blog.
For Grangers, nothing is more important than protecting our planet. We constantly seek new ways to help improve our sustainability and ensure your gear is protected in the most environmentally-conscious way. We never compromise on eco-responsibility or performance. Our products restore and enhance the performance of your outdoor gear, helping to prolong your adventures and keep your clothing and footwear out of landfill. From inventing the first water-based aftercare solution in 1947 to producing the world’s first 2-in-1 clean and reproof formulation in 2005, we have persistently been ahead of the curve, anticipating and adapting to the needs of our diverse society. We want to work with our customers to do our bit in reducing our impact.
