Kendal Mountain Festival 2024: The Highlights

Last weekend was a bit of a whirlwind. Team Grangers headed up north to the beautiful Lake District town of Kendal to exhibit at one of the most hotly anticipated events in every adventurer’s calendar: the Kendal Mountain Festival. As always, we had a blast and got to meet some fantastic people. We held competitions, welcomed your product queries, offered technical guidance and gave out a fair few goodie bags!

This year saw the return of the Grangers Wheel of Protection, a firm fan favourite, guaranteeing participants a prize every time. A new addition to the Grangers stand also brought an eager crowd: Grangers’ Ballnado, which whipped up a storm.

Our stand also received visits from a couple of outdoor VIPs, including our ambassadors, Mr Frostbite himself, Nigel Vardy, and Clipper Race seafarer, Gee Jackson (click to find out more about Nigel’s emotional return to Denali earlier in the year and Gee’s sailing adventures!). Like last year, Grangers was proud to partner once again with GORE-TEX and Scottish Mountain Gear on the GORE-TEX Gear Tour, supporting the cleaning and reproofing of GORE-TEX clothing products.

KMF started in the 1980s as an outdoor film festival, and still true to its roots, its prestigious outdoor film awards are still a big draw for many attendees. The big winners from 2024’s festival include Mountain Queen (Grand Prize Winner, directed by Lucy Walker), Girl of the Wind (Best Adventure and Exploration, directed by Yeun Nanhsi) and Indai Apai Darah (Judges’ Special Prize, directed by Kynan Tegar). To see the full list of winners, check them out on KMF’s International Film Competition Winners page. KMF 2024 saw a lot of inspiring talks and activations led by plenty of outdoor legends and experts in such topics as climbing and mountaineering, running, hiking, cycling, watersports, environmentalism and the arts, amongst many more.

If you attended Kendal Mountain Festival, we hope you had as much fun as we did and if you didn’t manage to come, we hope to see you there next year! Until next time, Kendal! #withgrangersyoucan
