Don't Shy Away from Sweat this September

Has the Olympics and Paralympics got you feeling inspired? Maybe you’re particularly smitten with judo, taken with archery or intrigued by handball. The Olympics and Paralympics provide great motivation to get active and try a new sport. Even if summer is nearly over. The awful British weather certainly won’t produce a sweat but exercising and attempting to beat your PB will. Sweating is a good sign – it means you’ve trained hard, put in the work to smash your goals and probably had a lot of fun. Despite the sweet smell of success that sweat symbolises, its literal smell isn’t so pleasant. Don’t hinder yourself and others when you're out there trying to get that gold! Keep your kit clean and fresh with Grangers.

Your kit needs to keep up with your body; how it moves and how much it sweats. It should keep you well-ventilated whilst wicking away moisture, resisting sweat and not soaking through. Activewear should be treated similarly to technical garments that require special care to maintain their ability to perform. Just as waterproofs need Performance Wash and down items need Down Wash, activewear needs Active Wash. A technical cleaner is a must-have when cleaning your activewear as regular detergents can strip away the useful wicking properties and affect the garment’s performance. Active Wash doesn’t do this. Instead, it enhances your kit’s ability to resist sweat whilst obliterating odours. This wash-in cleaner is formulated to eradicate the cause of lingering sweaty odours. Truly a kit bag essential, it’s perfect to clean Lycra, cotton polyester and merino wool.

If you’re concerned about all those sports accessories and equipment that get stinky and sweaty but can’t be machine-washed, don’t you worry. If your kit includes equipment that is in dire need of freshening up but isn’t suitable for a spin cycle, Grangers can help with that too. Perhaps a cycling helmet, boxing gloves or maybe even your smelly gym shoes, all aspects of your kit can be treated with Odour Eliminator. This fast-acting powerful spray doesn’t mask odours but (you guessed it) eliminates them, offering the freshness that they desperately need. Coming in 100ml and 275ml bottles, you can easily keep one at home and pop one in your gym bag to refresh on the go.

As we transition into autumn and cooler temperatures, Merino wool will be utilised more. It’s a popular active fabric that is worn all year long, sported as ventilated, light weight garments in summer and thermal baselayers in winter. The breathable fibres resist odours and help to avoid sweat, keeping us cool in summer and warm in winter. Merino is a magic wool that should be treated as such. Grangers’ Merino Wash is the very treatment your Merino deserves, restoring freshness and thoroughly cleans with a powerful, yet gentle, formula. It also utilises cedar extract to keep pesky moths from nibbling your knitwear.

You shouldn't ever feel embarrassed about your gear smelling when you’re training around others – sweating is a natural and healthy thing. But Grangers can put your mind at ease by ensuring your kit and equipment are fresh and odour-free, enabling maximum performance and helping you to bring your A game. So, after Team GB’s success at the Olympics last month and our impressive triumphs at the Paralympics this month (fingers crossed!), let’s use that inspiration to get motivated and get active and remember – Don’t sweat the small stuff. #withgrangersyoucan
